EXTRA EXTRA READ ALL ABOUT IT!!

We are closing in on the time frame of the NCAA signing dates for the National Letter of Intent(NLI).  The NLI is a very important opportunity for all student-athletes.  The NLI gives student-athletes the ability to participate in athletics at the college or university level and receive scholarship funds to do so.

"The NLI is a binding agreement between a prospective student-athlete and an NLI institution"

For all athletes wanting to participate in their various sports at the collegiate level it is very important to not only obtain the attention of prospective coaches with your results on the field and in the classroom but also "sell" yourself through other forms of self exposure.  These types of mediums can range from performance videos, personal statistic blogs, to athletic resumes.

When starting your college search, it is important to compose a resume of your academic accomplishments as well as your athletic achievements.  Your athletic resume can be both mailed and/or emailed to prospective college coaches and schools.  This allows the coach to see your achievements on the field and also know that you are interested in their program.

Below is a link to an example of an athletic resume:

When writing your own resume, be sure to show off your highest achievements, but remember to not drag your resume out into numerous pages.  You want to grab the coaches attention in the beginning but not bore them by the end.

Also be sure to include a letter addressed to the coach informing them of your interest in their program and a way to contact your high school and/or club coach(es).

If you have any other suggestions, comments, or questions on how to be noticed and recruited by college coaches please leave a comment below.
