Winter Training

Just because it is winter does not mean that track is not still going on.  There are many ways to stay connected to the sport of Track and Field.  Various locations offer winter Track and Field, with modifications to events.  This allows athletes to stay competitive even if they are not competing in the event that would be their "regular" event in spring and summer track.  If the event that you normally compete in is not available, use winter track as an opportunity to try out new things.  This allows you to discover a possible HIDDEN TALENT!! and also keeps you well rounded.

If you don't have access to participating in winter track and field, off season is always a great time to work on strength training, flexibility, mechanics, and technique.  The great part about off season training is that the possibilities are endless.  There are so many varieties of activities that can be done to help develop various aspects of every even.

Being a great athlete does not just mean that you are good at a particular sport of event, but that you are well rounded in all aspects.  All athletes can benefit from building muscle and increasing endurance.  These various activities range from solo training such as running, weight lifting, bike riding, event drills to even trying new things such as exercise classes.  Most important thing to remember is to keep active, eat healthy, and stay in shape.
